Progress in motion
The upgrading works carried out over a total area of 500,000 sqm as part of this project align with the strategy to comply with EU air traffic specifications and aimed to increase operational capacity as well as optimize aircraft operating conditions at Otopeni Airport.
In addition to the upgrading of the existing taxiways, Apron 2 for passenger boarding – unboarding was extended, increasing the premises to 190,000 sqm and 28 additional aircraft parking positions.
Compliance, Connectivity, Quality
The project also included execution of a new aircraft taxiway and two fast-access roads for handling equipment to reach aircraft on the airport aprons.
This phase also involved works on airport pavement structures, stormwater drainage systems for the movement areas, as well as the airfield lighting and LED lighting systems.
The project, taken over by the client at the beginning of December 2025, represents another outstanding achievement by our teams, especially given that the works were carried out under normal operating conditions, with the airport remaining fully functional throughout the entire period.
